About DoseFirst and how we review

DoseFirst publishes independent reviews of direct-to-consumer supplements. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to any brand we write about.

How we review

Every review on this site follows the same method, and we publish it so you can hold us to it.

We start with the label, not the sales page

Before writing a word we find the product's actual Supplement Facts panel — on the manufacturer's site, in its checkout, or on the bottle photography. If a company does not publish its label anywhere, we say so, because that is itself the most important thing a buyer can know.

We compare every dose to published human research

An ingredient list tells you nothing on its own. What matters is whether the amount in the bottle resembles the amount that produced an effect in a trial. Every dose comparison we publish links to its source on PubMed, so you can check it yourself in one click. We do not cite studies we have not read, and we say plainly when the research is in cells or animals rather than in people.

We buy nothing on trust and we test the checkout

We open the real order page and follow it to the payment screen, because that is where the surprises live: pre-selected subscriptions, pre-ticked add-ons, shipping fees that only appear at the end. When we find one, it goes near the top of the review, not buried at the bottom.

We score four things, and we show the breakdown

Ratings are never a single opinion number. Each review publishes the criteria behind it with individual scores, so a reader who disagrees with one of them can discount it and keep the rest.

What we never do

Affiliate disclosure

This site earns money through affiliate commissions. If you buy a product through a link here, we may receive a commission at no additional cost to you. That relationship does not change our ratings, our dose comparisons or the problems we report. Every factual claim is sourced to the manufacturer's own published material or to peer-reviewed research, both of which are linked so you can verify them independently.

Corrections

If you believe something here is inaccurate — including if you represent a brand we have reviewed — write to us with the evidence and we will check it against the source and correct the page if you are right. Reviews carry a "last updated" date and we revise them when prices, labels or offers change.

Not medical advice

Nothing on this site is medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and no article here replaces a conversation with a qualified healthcare professional. Consult one before starting any supplement, especially alongside prescription medication or an existing condition, and never stop or change a prescribed medication on your own.
